What Else Do I Need To Use The Rikomagic Mk802 iv Mini PC?
Hi, and welcome back to the adventures of me, a geek named Jimmy, and the MK802 iv mini pc. Yes, a man and a Android Mini Computer having fun with technology.
So, I have been asked a few questions regarding this fanless pc, and I will try to clear up a few of these questions in this post.
Want A Rikomagic Mini PC? |

Question 1: What do I need to have to make this TV Dongle work?
Answer: First, you need the device itself, the Mk802 iv mini pc. You will also need a TV that has an HDMI input on it OR a computer monitor with any adapters needed to convert the HDMI to whatever the computer monitor excepts. Another thing to realize, that almost all TVs are not touch screen. That being said, you will need something to connect to the Rikomagic MK802 iv Mini PC to control it, such as a mouse, keyboard, etc.
I have used a few options with success:
Rikomagic MK702II Mini Wireless Smart Fly Mouse for Android TV Box PC
QQ-Tech® Newest Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Handheld with Touchpad for
Microsoft Wireless Desktop 800 for Business
Logitech Wireless Desktop MK320 Keyboard
Next, I would say you want to have a WIFI Highspeed Internet connection.
Question 2: What is not necessary to get, but would be nice to have?
Answer: The first thing I would say to get is a 32GB Micro SD card, like this one. This can plug into the side of the Rikomagic MK802 iv mini pc, and provide you storage for your files, music, pictures, etc.
I would recommend getting a USB 2.0 Hub for your Rikomagic MK802 iv mini pc. There is only one USB port for hooking up things, but with a Hub, you can hook up multiple things. Something to be aware of is that if the devices you plan on hooking up draw a lot of power, you want to get a hub that has an additional power supply.
If you get the USB Hub, then you can hook up additional devices to your Rikomagic MK802 iv Mini PC, such as external hard drives, a hardwired Ethernet controller, etc.
Question 3: Can I use the Rikomagic MK802 iv mini pc as a simple Android Mini Computer for my elderly parent?
Answer: Yes! This is an easy device to hook up, and can be very useful for the elderly. Let’s say you wanted to get Mom or Grandma on the Internet. They are afraid of computers, but they love their TV. The great thing about this for the vision impaired is that if the TV is big, they can browse the web using a screen that is very much larger than a traditional PC screen.
I would determine what will Grandma most likely need to do with the Rikomagic MK802 iv mini pc? Browse the web, do a little shopping, check the weather, email all of her friends to tell them how great her grandson is for turning her TV into a computer…. You know…
So, after determining exactly what Granny will need to use, you can install all of those things on the Mini pc , place the icons on the desktop, and get her hooked up in a jiffy! After a little training on how to use the Rikomagic MK802 IV, and hopefully a few chocolate chip cookies later, she will be good to go. I would recommend that for elderly people, get a standard keyboard and mouse, instead of an AirMouse Remote Control style input device. It is my experience that Granny gets frustrated with the little buttons on a remote control.
I hope this post helps clear up a few of your questions.
